The concept of ‘no dig’ has been around for a while, but it still can seem too good to be true, that by not disturbing the soil by digging, weeds can be discouraged and the soil can flourish and less time can be spent on heavy spade work, weeding and watering in the garden. Here’s your chance to learn more…..

This talk will cover how to set up a no dig garden in a home garden, allotments and smaller market gardens, looking at different methods and techniques. It will explore best mulches, keeping the plot weed free, sowing methods, composting, plant foods, harvesting and more.

Stephanie Hafferty is a gardener, plant-based cook, award winning author, small scale homesteader and mum of three. She has been gardening using the no dig method for around 12 years and has worked in, created or advised many different kinds of edible growing spaces: market gardens, kitchen gardens on large private estates, pop up gardens for festivals, tiny gardens, urban gardens and in her own home garden and allotment. Stephanie has recently moved to Wales where she is setting up a new no dig homestead on half an acre - the story of her progress can be found on her blog on her website
