South African botanist and horticulturist Graham Duncan will share his love of the beautiful Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens and his expertise on the bulbs that grow there.
Graham’s main interest in plants has always been bulbous plants, in particular, the genus Lachenalia, and his first book was published in 1988 titled ‘The Lachenalia Handbook’.
In total he has described over 50 new taxa in Lachenalia. He has contributed 6 titles to the Kirstenbosch Gardening Series, the major work ‘The Amaryllidaceae of Southern Africa’, and recently Kew published his monograph ‘The Genus Agapanthus’ in 2021.
In retirement he continues to be associated with Kirstenbosch as a Fellow of the South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI)
