Sam Bio
Sam Penrose is a Master’s Architecture student at The University of Sheffield, having previously completed a Dual Architecture and Landscape degree. He is Director of Design at Discovery Outdoors and has particular interests in community projects, planting design and sustainable construction. He designed the Long Border in collaboration with his friend Jojo Tarvet.
John Bio
Having spent 22 years in schools as a teacher and leader, John launched Discovery Outdoors in May 2024 with a simple goal, to bring learning and young people outdoors. Since then Discovery Outdoors has explored nature with over 1000 school’s children, developed school gardens our own Head Quarters allotment in South Sheffield. Inspired by our Edimental Kitchen classroom, we are on a mission for every school to have a garden.
Bridget Bio
Bridget is a jobbing gardener. Retired from teaching and family support management she acquired an allotment, took a course in growing to organic principles and became self sufficient in vegetables. At Wortley Hall, Bridget is one of the Wortley Hall Walled Garden Growers, a group of volunteers who care for the restored walled garden and its historic orchard.
